ABOUT
I am an Atlanta based touring lighting designer and programmer. I got my start in the business like most people I think, by complete accident. My first gig was tour manager for Chicago rock band Absentstar. They couldn’t afford a tour manager that did FOH, so I guess the kid answering the phones in the management office was the next best thing. I made up for my inexperience by bumping the house par cans along to their music. A decade later, there is nothing I would rather be doing.
Throughout my career, I have been able to run shows at just about every level, designing, programming, and operating. Nothing compares to the excitement of a live show, when the house lights go down and you fire off the first big cue and the crowd goes crazy, its magic. I love great programming that visually represents what's happening sonically. A cue that looks like it sounds makes the moment that much more powerful and impactful. I am constantly inspired and excited by the “big pop shows”, and try to see as many as I can.
My favorite part of the design process is seeing a design built for the first time. After months of drawings and renders, seeing it come together and light up in real life is a very rewarding feeling. I really enjoy learning about new technologies, asking questions, and talking lights with other “lighting nerds” like me.
